Today in the Pre-Access class, we learnt about gravity and how it changes the world around us. We all know that when we let go of things they will fall down, but today we explored why that happens.

We learnt about Sir Isaac Newton and how he discovered that gravity causes things to fall downwards. We spoke about how he observed the apple falling from a tree and how this led to his great Scientific discovery.

Today, we recreated this observation, but not with apples; we used water balloons. In our class, everyone was given the chance to drop a water balloon from the 2nd floor and watch it fall down to the ground with a watery splash! It was so much fun seeing how the balloons fell! Later on, we managed to feel the strength of this force by trying to catch the balloons with our hands and also with our towels! What a great splash!

After our experiment, we were also able to discuss why the heavier balloons seemed to fall even faster than the smaller and lighter balloons! Pupils were able to correctly predict which item would fall faster; a rock or a piece of paper. Well done today everyone, you all did amazing work as always! Keep on experimenting!
