Pre-Access 7/4

Today, was our July 4th American theme! We began by reviewing some things we knew about America, including the flag, people we knew from America and foods. The children showed how well they could relate to people being from a different place and we discussed all of the different nationalities even amongst our teachers! We looked at culture and how we can identify the cultural features of Japan!

After, we looked at the festival theme and relayed the 4th of July to different days we’d experienced in Japan! This allowed the children to discuss and contemplate similarities with Japanese celebrations and other countries’. We also looked at key colours, taken from flags, this of course looking at blue, white and red.

We enjoyed an afternoon of playing games, which included, ring tossing and a scavenger hunt! The children competed to show their enthusiasm for understanding this special day, as well as working together to win different competitions.

Thanks for a great day in pre-access!
