This month in Social Studies class, we’re learning about Japanese inventions.

The first invention we looked at was Cup Noodles.

Cup Noodles were invented 50 years ago by Japanese businessman, Momofuku Ando, and have become a popular instant food product in Japan.

After we discussed the difference between instant noodles and normal noodles, and the positives and negatives of eating instant food, it was time for the kids to design their own Cup Noodles label and their own original flavors.

First, Mike popped in to show us the Cup Noodles he designed. The flavor was Canadian bacon crossed with Baskin Robbins Popping Shower ice cream!

That got the kids’ imaginations flowing. Soon we had all sorts of flavor ideas — pizza flavor, ice cream soda flavor, chocolate chip cookie flavor, and even special character flavors like Batman and Cup Head!

The finished results were pretty spectacular.
