Canadian Critters

In today’s Pre-Access class, we continued learning all about Canada in our Science classes. We began the lesson with a quick recap of our previous learning about moose and beavers. We also recapped the different woodland animals we saw in the park last week. Continuing this theme of animals, we learnt all about even more Canadian animals today.

We discussed Canadian geese, marmots, bighorn sheep, brown bears, grizzly bears, woodpeckers, foxes, mountain goats, and even more. As well as learning these animal’s names, we also learnt about their skills and how they are able to survive in the wild in Canada! We were so amazed to see how the woodpecker uses it’s beak to find it’s next meal!

After learning about these animals, we played a game using our flashcards. Pupils were split into three teams and had to use their listening skills to find the correct card. After being given a hint, pupils had to be the fastest to find and touch the card of the correct animal. It was great to see how competitive and engaged everyone was in the topic!

Well done everyone! Keep up the great work and you’ll be an animal expert soon! See you next time!
