Oil’s Dangers in Water!

Hello Thursday readers!

Today was the last day of our water lessons! We reviewed everything from the month.

Salt water. Fresh water. Uses of water. Everything about water! We had one last thing to talk about….

Oil! In water!

We first learned how water can be a danger to propel, animals and the earth! If water becomes polluted it is very harmful!

We watched a fun video to educate the students on ways water can become polluted, such as dumping trash.

Then the experiment started and the students helped! First we poured oil into our “pond”.

After we saw the effects oil had in water, we tried to see what we could do.

“We can clean it!”, thought some of the students. So we tried using different materials to see which had the greatest effect, if any at all.

The first was a q-tip. The next was a spoon. Nothing seemed to work well.

The biggest help was….. dish soap! However, can we just pour a bunch of dish soap into the ocean? Into the rivers and lakes? Nope. So our goal was to see how to reduce the dangers for animals that live in water in hopes we don’t have to use dish soap.

Here’s an extra little snippet of what the K3 students did today and this month for art! They learned the concepts of warm and cool colors and used their own drawings to paint!

It was a fun time and we will see you after the holiday! Have a great golden week! See you next time!
