Animal Teeth!

Welcome to another Pre Access Science lesson! We began our lesson by recapping the scientific vocabulary we learnt last week. We also learnt about the different ways we use our teeth.

In today’s class, we learnt about different types of teeth and how they all have special jobs to help us eat! Some animals have sharp and pointy teeth, some have long teeth, and some have flat and wide teeth. We used the words “chew”, “bite”, “grind” and “tear” to describe the way different animals eat their food. We even used these words to make full sentences!

Next, we played a quick matching game! We looked at different photographs of teeth and had to guess which animal they belonged to. By looking closely at the teeth, pupils were able to guess if the animal would tear, bite, chew, or grind their food. This helped us to guess the animals correctly! Well done everyone!

For our final activity, we created our own animal using different types of animal teeth. Pupils chose their favourite type of teeth and glued it onto a photo of themselves. We then added more animal features like tails, whiskers, ears, noses, stripes, fins, claws, and more! Well done everyone, you created an brand new animal!

Great work scientists, keep smiling!
