Hello my Thursday readers and welcome back! It has been a while and it is good to have you join us again.

Today marks a new month, and a special one. This year, February actually has 29 days! Usually there are only 28 but every 4 years we are in a “leap year” and have an extra day!

February has a special holiday that most people know. It deals with many hearts, flowers, chocolates and more! What do you think it is?

Valentine’s Day! To honor this special day, our first artwork of the month was centered around hearts. Our students’ theme for the month is “collage”. They are going to piece different things together to make art.

Our goal today was to create a heart with….hearts! Students started the process with their template.

From the template, students hole-punched their own hearts with very “Valentinesy” color.
“I need more muscle!”

After they had enough hearts, the easy part came. Students decorated and pasted all of the hearts that they wanted onto their centerpiece.

Here are some of the end pieces. They were lovely and enjoyable.
