Santa Claus is Coming to Town~

Or is he…? Did you know that Santa Claus is not his real name?! Santa was based on a real person. His name was Saint Nicholas. He was born about one thousand, seven hundred and forty years ago!! And he’s not from the North Pole, or Finland. He was from Turkey. Maybe that’s why we eat turkey for Christmas…

Saint Nicholas’ nickname was Sinter Klaas. When Sinter Klaas was first introduced into American popular culture (around 1773), people misheard his name as Santa Claus. And that’s how his name came to be!

So whether you call him Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Pere Noel, Babbo Natale, or Pelznickel…

The man in red will always represent the spirit of Christmas to everyone around the world!

Merry Christmas to all!
