Our Pet Penguin!

In today’s Pre Access class we learnt all about wild animals! We listed all the different animals we knew and then discussed if they were wild or not. From slithering snakes to roaring lions, we found that wild animals come in different shapes and sizes! After watching a video about lions, bears, tigers, cougars and penguins, we decided that although these animals are interesting, they wouldn’t make good pets!

We learnt that most wild animals need big spaces to explore, huge amounts of food to eat, and much more attention than a regular pet cat or dog. That means that most of these pets would be too hard to look after in our normal daily life. However, this didn’t stop us from imagining our very own pet for Kamikitazawa!

As a class, we discussed and imagined how we would look after a wild penguin if we had to welcome it into our class. To show all our ideas, we created a giant poster as a whole class.

We decided to name our penguin Kiki and let it live with us in Japan. As well as deciding where it lived, we also thought we’d need to find some ice to make it comfortable in its new home. Next, we decided that a penguin’s favourite food would be fish, so we made lots of them for it to eat!

I think even the most wild penguin would be very happy living with us at Kamikitazawa. Well done everyone! Our poster looks amazing!
