We continued our Science Pre-Access topic about salt today. To start our lesson off, we recapped everything we learnt from last week. Pupils did so well to remember the different types of salt and some of their uses.

In today’s class, we spoke about some more ways we can use salt to help us. These included eating salt, drinking salt, purification, and even disinfecting our wounds! Everyone did well to remember the new key vocabulary we learnt today!

Today’s activity allowed us the chance to mix salt and warm water together to form a solution. We made these solutions in groups and mixed our salt and warm water in jars. Additionally, we added pipe cleaners into the solution and allowed the salt to settle on it.

Next week, we will return to our creations and see if the water and salt solution has began to form crystals on the pipe cleaner. Hopefully we can see our creation of crystals within the water.
