Crafting Creepy-Cute Spider Webs

When you think of Halloween, what’s one of the first things that come to mind? For many, it’s the intricate and often mesmerizing spider webs that decorate corners of rooms, hallways, and front porches. Today in Preaccess, we decided to craft our very own, but with a twist!

Starting with the black construction paper, our little artists drew their spider web designs using white glue. The excited chattering in the room was palpable as everyone shared their web designs, from the intricate and detailed to the fun and whimsical.

Next came the magic. Salt was generously sprinkled over the wet glue, turning our webs into frosty masterpieces. But we didn’t stop there!

Introducing watercolors to the equation added an extra layer of wonder. As the kids brushed the colors onto the salted glue, they watched in amazement as the salt absorbed the watercolor, creating a beautiful diffusion effect and transforming their webs into vibrant, colorful spectacles.

As our session came to a close, the room was filled with an array of beautiful, colorful spider webs, each unique in its design and color palette. These masterpieces were then proudly displayed in our classroom, adding to our Halloween décor and serving as a testament to the creativity of our Preaccess students.
