Happy New Year and welcome to another fun year of Pre-Access Science! We welcomed the new year in our class today by learning about fortunes and how we can make wishes at shrines.

The best way to learn about shrines is to see and experience them first hand, so that’s exactly what we did! Early this morning, we walked together as a while school to a local shrine.

Once we arrived there, pupils told us about their own knowledge of shrines and when they have visited them before! Some pupils told us and even demonstrated how to correctly make a wish and pay our respects here.

Later on, we spoke about good and bad luck and how we can be given fortunes on paper. In class we took turns to take fortunes from a box. We read our fortunes aloud to the class, explaining how it related to our studying, love, travel, and even lucky numbers.
