Today, we began exploring our new monthly theme for September, Ocean Life!

This is a lot to discuss about the ocean, so we started with the basics.

The ocean covers over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface. The rest of the Earth’s surface is covered in land. We took a look at our globe to where the areas of land and ocean are. We learned that there are seven large expanses of land called continents, and five major oceans. 

I put this giant map on the wall, but there was a problem. The map had no names on it! I needed help, fast. 

The students came to the rescue!

The continents were no problem. Now we had to name the oceans. 

We did it! Now, that’s what I call a proper map!

We learned many interesting facts about the continents and oceans. I hope you guys remember because I’ll be sure to quiz you next week!
